Specialist Mental Health Care Home with Nursing

Grennell Lodge is a late Victorian house on the outskirts of Sutton on the Surrey / London borders providing nursing care for people with different types of psychiatric illnesses for both younger and older people, although the majority of the residents in the Home are under 65. The home provides care for 32 residents, 25 in the younger adult mental health category, and 7 in the older person dementia category. There is a mix of single and double bedrooms. Grennell Lodge is the first original Home opened and developed by Care Unlimited in 1983.

Grennell Lodge is situated within 20 minutes walk of Sutton Town Centre close to local amenities such as shops, newsagents, hairdressers, pubs and post office. There is a local bus service from outside the home, which will take passengers into the centre of Sutton and transport can be arranged in advance by the Home. The home consists of a three-story building. A shaft lift serves the basement and the ground, first and second floors.

There are a number of communal areas, including a large sitting/dining room, conservatory and smoking lounge. There is garden to the rear of the house, in which there is a second conservatory and an occupational therapy room. The Home has a natural warmth, evident as soon as you walk through the door. Care Unlimited is rolling out an ongoing upgrade of accommodation within the Home due for completion in late 2012.

Esther Allison is the new manager of the Home, recently joining in March 2011 and has quickly got to know the residents and staff at the Home. She brings with her a wealth of psychiatric knowledge and experience. Esther has inherited the management of a very loyal team of staff, some having worked there for over 20 years.
