Chaldon Rise
Mental Health Care Home
Chaldon Rise is a beautiful old country house, standing in its stunning five-acre grounds and located overlooking the glorious South Downs. The Home has been providing care since 1988 and has been extended over the years to provide 34 beds. Chaldon Rise provides nursing care for the younger and older person with mental health illnesses. These vary from dementia related conditions including Alzheimer’s and Vascular Dementia, to psychotic and neurotic illnesses such as schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder.
We are also registered to provide care and support for adults with mild to severe learning disabilities. Chaldon Rise has an innovative approach to care and support. Care is person-centred with an emphasis on promoting and maintaining independence as long as possible. The Home has a real family feel and this is more noticeable on occasions such as Christmas, garden fetes, and barbecues.
Facilities includes a Sensory Garden, Sensory Room and Activity Room with access to all 5 acres of grounds. There is a highly trained loyal team of staff with very low turnover. The home has developed a very good relationship with GPs at the Moat House local surgery and other healthcare professionals. For our residents with learning disabilities, we also have intensive interaction therapy with weekly visits from Us in a Bus (see http://www.usinabus.org.uk/).
The home is run by Elaine Wantoch who has been manager since 2007. She has very specialised experience in mental health and dementia care. Elaine is also a Registered Mental Nurse with a ‘Leadership and Management in Care’ award. She also studied Dementia Care Mapping at Bradford University. Elaine’s team successfully reached the finals in the 2010 Surrey Care Awards in several categories.
